Recently, our daughter Sofia, asked her mom to help her set-up her “store” – a lemonade and popsicle stand.
She sat there waiting for about a half-hour. Then came to me disappointed, and said…
“People are walking and driving by, but are not stopping…”
I encouraged her to be patient, and to not give up.
Even when she took short breaks to exercise on her obstacle course, she kept a close eye on her store, and when she saw a potential customer approaching, she would run back.
She stuck with it for hours. She sold 8 popsicles and 2 lemonades. Tired, she said that at 12:00 (noon) she will close her store and open again next week…
The next day, I asked her if she’d learned anything from starting her own business. She said…
“If I sell lemonade AND popsicles, I make more money!”
Tenacity, good customer service AND exercise help drive sales.
(Next lessons for Sofia will be in spending, savings, taxes, licensing, and donating money for a worthy cause.)
For those of you interested in lemonade and popsicles, Sofia will be open again next weekend…
